Is my blog becoming a junk yard of information? I mean It is being fed trough 4 different services (technically 5 but I’ll get to that in a moment). here is kind of a brake down of what is going on with the YDEK, it’s syndication, and what it runs on.
First of all there is the fact that I am an iphone user and enjoy taking pictures of my friends and what not. So this gives readers a visual summery of my day off the computer. Some days I post like 15 pics and others I post none at all it just matters on how exiting my day looks.
My twitter is also syndicated into this blog so whenever I make a tweet It goes on here. I twitter A LOT so in turn I blog a lot. I like this it makes less work for me and more content for the reader. Of course this is less than 140 characters of content but since I make up-word of 15 tweets a day it can give a pretty good representation on what I am doing in any certain day.
—- My hype machine posts to my twitter every-time I “love” a song so in turn when I “love” a song on hype machine It is posted to this blog. thus adding more content trough twitter.
Every-time I del.icio.us something it is posted here. I use Del.icio.us for bookmarking things I hope to read into more or need to look back at in for a later date. I also use it to bookmark things I am blogging about which creates a stream of blogging so the reader can see how I get to the eventual post ( this is the theory at-least.
I am also a big fan of the Google reader and “share” a lot of things. Everything that I share is posted to a feed via Google this feed is broken down into links to the post that I read/”shared” thus createing even more links for just doing something I would do anyway and thus creating more content with out me actually have to post it to the blog itself.
I am also a huge fan of rebloging. I spend a good time of my day on my tumblr dashboard checking out what my followers are talking about and when i come across something even remotely interesting I reblog it. This has become my favorite part of the tumblr platform and what I believe is it’s ultimite power. I am sad when I am reading a blog that is not on tumblr simply because I can’t reblog it. I have to make a real post about it (not that big of a deal really but still)
Now on top of all of this madness I have my tumblr on my facebook profile and every-time I make a post it posts to the news feed of my friends. This creates one of the best way to get my posts out to the people I want to read them, my friends.
So there are six ways I update this blog which creates a almost overflow of post everyday. Lately I have thought about cooling it down some by taking off the twitter syndication and simply putting a widget up with my tweets. Will this be as effective as simply having fed into the blog itself?
I have achieved my goal of getting all the services I use on daily basis to be fed into one supper feed but now I am looking for a solution to the overflow of information that is being pushed at my readers. I have a few ideas on how to handle all this but it is something I am going to have to do a lot of research on (it involves some ajax something I know nothing about)
I feel I am doing a good job as a tumblr. This blog is a miroir of my life and I feel that people that read it can actually truthfully say that they are following me. As a bloger I think I might be pouring a lot of useless info onto my readers and not giving them a good way to trudge it all.
